Touch the post is my mantra.  It is how I live my life, personally and professionally. It means Never Take Shortcuts.

It came about when I was a teenager.  I ran a 6-mile route, which was 3 miles in one direction, from my house to a main road. 

Just before the main road was a steep downhill.  So, when I got to the main road, I had to turn around and climb a decent hill, which wasn’t fun.

I could have stopped short and turned around before the hill started to descend. But that would have been the easy way out.

And, life isn’t supposed to be easy.  It’s how you manage through the ups and downs that counts.

So, I ran that route at least 100 times.  Every time, I touched the post at the corner of the main road at the bottom of the hill. So, in life, I don’t take shortcuts.  Neither should you.
